By Amazon and Barnes & Nobles, Amazon and Amazon.com are among the first big-name e-commerce companies to join forces to make sure its shoppers get paid for the things they buy online.
The new partnership is Amazon’s first with a major retailer.
The new agreement, which the two companies announced in February, will allow shoppers to pay for things like movies and books by signing up for Amazon Prime, a service that allows consumers to get free shipping for most purchases made through the company’s website.
The new partnership with Amazon follows a $1 billion partnership with Netflix last year, which Amazon said included a $2 billion commitment to content creators.
In a press release announcing the new partnership, Amazon said Prime Video will now “provide a more secure, reliable and secure delivery service for Amazon products” with “no additional cost to consumers.”
Prime Video is available in over 100 countries around the world and has been used by more than 100 million consumers, including Amazon Prime members.
Amazon says Prime Video delivers up to 10 hours of Prime Video content to any eligible device within the same household, which includes phones, tablets, computers and televisions.
Prime Video can also be accessed via an app, which lets customers watch up to two hours of streaming video a day on a smartphone or tablet.
Amazon Prime Video was available to Prime members in the U.S. starting March 1.
In addition to Prime Video, Amazon has partnered with Netflix and Hulu to bring Prime Video to a number of other countries.
Amazon also announced it will add a new Amazon Music store to its site and an Amazon Video Music Unlimited subscription service, and it will offer Amazon Prime Video as an option to Prime customers in the United States.
Amazon also will offer a new “premium” version of Prime that will be available for $19.99 a year.
Amazon says Prime members can access the service in a number “of ways,” including by signing in with their Amazon account and signing up to Prime.
Members can also pay for content through a number, like movies, books, TV shows, and more.
Amazon Prime is available to consumers in more than 150 countries and will expand to more countries in the future.
