Why the NBA’s biggest stars are retiring at 40: ‘I was told I could be in the league again’

I was told if I didn’t play basketball I could not be an NBA player.

I was in the NBA for 10 years.

I would have to prove to people that I was good enough.

It was a blessing.

I never thought I’d retire.

In 2012, I told my agent that I wanted to do something different with my life.

If I played basketball again, I’d go to college.

But, I never had that opportunity.

I didn, and that’s how it turned out.

I was a great player, but I didnt have the talent to be a star.

Im thankful I wasnt, but it didnte take me long to realize that I wasn’t ready.

I had a few injuries, and my body was just going through a lot.

When I finally came back in 2013, I had to go back to school for three semesters.

I played in college for three years.

After three semester, I was back at school.

That’s when I realized I wasnt ready to play professional basketball.

I played a few years in college, and it wasnts that fun anymore.

I wanted my family to be happy.

But it was hard to leave the comfort of home.

The most important thing was to give back to my community.

I think the NBA helped me with that.

I have a lot of people that have supported me through this.

They know I am a good person.

When I started to see how much money was in my pocket, it gave me motivation to get out there and give back.

As a player, you can’t make a living like that.

So, I made a lot, and now I’m a big person in the community.

You never really see a guy like that in the world of sports.

I am thankful for everything the NBA has given me.

I just want to thank the league and the fans for all the support.
